Sidewalk Hours and UsesWheelchairs are permitted on sidewalks. Roller Blades, Skateboards and Roller Skates are not permitted. Dogs are permitted only if under control and on a leash at all times. Pedestrian AccessMarch 9 , 2008 - November 1, 2008 (Daylight Savings Time): Pedestrians are allowed only on the EAST sidewalk, during daylight hours from 5 am to 9 pm. Gates close automatically at 9 pm and reopen at 5 am. |

Bicycle AccessCyclists have toll-free access to the Bridge's sidewalks 24-hours a day. Cyclists MUST yield to pedestrians and remember to use caution in the areas of the towers as there is limited space to maneuver and sight distances are constrained. Electric bicycles may be ridden on the sidewalks; however they may not be used under power while on the sidewalk and must be pedaled. Ride Safe on the Golden Gate!Detour on North Side of BridgeThe portion of Conzelman Road below the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge is open to bicycle and pedestrian traffic. However, it will be closed in the event the Department of Homeland Security raises the security alert to "orange" or "red." When closed, use Alexander Avenue to access Fort Baker, Discovery Museum and Sausalito. |
